Another great day of competition is in the books at the 2010 National Games. With great support from the families and friends of our athletes who have travelled to Lincoln the team competed hard and brought home the first medals of the games for Team New Jersey.

Flag Football: the team had two games today. Game 1 was vs Nebraska. Down 22-21 with under a minute to play, Team NJ intercepted the ball. Two plays later and as time expired QB Chris McCormac found Kelly Petterway in the endzone to give Team NJ a 27-22 victory. What a start to Tuesday! In the second game vs Indiana, Team NJ played a tough game, with Indiana making the crucial big plays on their way to a 27-12 defeat of New Jersey.

Aquatics: Tracey Sanok set a new personal best in the 25 free of 28 seconds and finishing first in her heat. Margo set a personal record in the 50 free with a time of 41.68. She also placed first in her heat. Joe Hale swam 1:28 in his 100m freestyle prelim. Daisy set a PB in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:50.  All these events were still preliminary races.

Golf: Tom shot 50 for a two day total of 102 to leave him 6th out of 33 golfers in the Level 4 Competition. Chris Harold and Ray Harold shot a round of 50 as well, including a birdie on the 4th hole, to give them a two day total of 97 and ranked 4th out of 27 teams.

Bocce: The Team competition concluded today and Team NJ finished with a bronze medal, the first medals of the games for Team NJ. Doubles competition got under way with the Female team of Shivonne and Lisa ending the day with a resounding victory 12-5 over Alabama.

Basketball: Riding the momentum of yesterdays double header sweep, Team NJ jumped out to a quick 10-0 lead vs Missouri. Never looking back, Team NJ cruised to a 22-5 halftime lead. With a overflow crowd, including the NJ Soccer and Flag Football teams, Team NJ coasted to a 37-19 victory. A very impressive display. (Guest written by Jeff Baldino).

Bowling: Becky Visalli bowled 158, 134, 117 for a 409 total which was good enough for Silver medal. The total was 64 pins above her average and she missed gold by just 3 pins! Denise Navarro also competed in the singles competition and high fived her way to a 5th place in her division. Congrats to both athletes on their great performances.

Soccer: the sidelines were packed with fans as team NJ took on the team from South Dakota this morning at 10am. Team NJ had plenty of chances but just could not find the net. They fell behind 1-0 but kept there heads up and stormed back to tie the game with a goal from Andi Hoz de Villa. After a thrilling end to end battle the game ended at 1-1.

Track and Field: It was a great day for our track athletes. Highlights included Victoria in the 800m walk (7:43.15), Traci Fisher running a 22.01 100m, Bobbie Fredericks 100m (15.33), Mark Halpern running the 800m (3:08.59) and 1500m (6:34.97), Carol Spilotras in the 100m (20.71), and Christina Vasser in the 1500m (7:22.48).
