Meet Our Trainers: from left to right are Gene, Kirby, Pete & Trevor

Here’s to a New Year and a NEW YOU! Take advantage of our On-Site Fitness Trainers who can perform fitness evaluations, nutritional consulting and customized training programs to fit your 2013 needs and goals. Best of all, Special Olympics New Jersey’s Wawa Exercise and Wellness Center is available free of charge to all registered SONJ athletes and a Unified training partner.

GET STARTED BY MEETING OUR TRAINERS:
Gene Swanhart
Gene is a Certified Personal Trainer. With his 32-year Law Enforcement career and having served for 25 years as a member of Law Enforcement Torch Run State Committee for Special Olympics, Gene has been not only a volunteer for those 25 years but was hired to work for Special Olympics New Jersey as the Training Director at this facility. In his spare time, Gene is currently studying for his second personal training certification. With his knowledge, there is no time like the present to get your workout started.

Kirby Jones
Kirby has 36 years of experience working at the New Jersey Department of Developmental Disabilities and Mental Health. Kirby’s areas of expertise include not only as a personal trainer but also a safety and security trainer. Kirby has been a part of Special Olympics New Jersey for the last 23 years and enjoys every minute with the Athletes. Kirby’s motto is, “Make a positive impact on the world. And have fun doing it!”

Pete Schneider
Pete graduated from Thomas Edison State College with his Bachelors in Natural Science and Mathematics, as well as his Doctor of Medicine Degree from American University of the Caribbean, School of Medicine. With one year residency in Pediatrics and 16 years of fitness experience, Pete has the expertise to get you started in the right direction for your fitness goals! Pete’s motto is, “Work Smart, Not Hard.”

Trevor Deysher
Trevor has graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Kinesiology.  He has been a personal trainer for two years and has worked at Special Olympics New Jersey since December of 2012. Trevor has a history of working with and training Special Olympic Athletes and strives to help them reach their goals.  In his spare time Trevor likes playing any type of sport and watching them on TV.
